10 Apps Like Bigo You’ll Love

One of the best things about modern social technology is that we can speak with people all around the world at the touch of a button and we don’t even have to get out of bed.

10 Apps Like Bigo You’ll Love

Most of us enjoy meeting new people, and the excitement of this is enhanced when you can include video chat. Bigo has that function, but it’s not the only app of its kind.

There are many apps out there that operate like Bigo and you may be wondering what these apps are. Luckily, we’ve composed this list of apps that are like Bigo that you’ll love to use!

Looking for alternatives? Read on to find out more.

What Is Bigo?

Bigo, or Bigo Live to give it its full name, is a very popular video streaming app. Live users can broadcast themselves and other users can chat with them using comments or add them in the app.

On top of this, users may decide to video chat with other users on the app. You may be thinking to yourself that this sounds familiar to some other apps - and you’d be right.

However, Bigo Live has a little twist on things because it allows for users to not only showcase their skills and make friends, but they can actually earn from it.

Users may decide to purchase in-app currency and this can be used to tip or donate to people live broadcasting.

But as we said, Bigo Live is not the only app of its kind out there. There’s plenty of other alternatives - and here are some of those below.

1. YouTube

youtube

Okay, so most of you will already be aware of YouTube, but you cannot discount YouTube from this list as being a similar app to Bigo Live.

Much like Bigo, users can broadcast themselves live and interact with other users of the platform. It allows people to showcase their skills and of course, earn some money from doing so.

Unlike Bigo though, YouTube does not offer in-app currency. Instead, users can monetize their videos through advertising or by sponsorship deals with products or services.

2. Discord

Discord is one of the most popular apps of its kind. It is used by tens of millions of people every single day. Much like Bigo, users can broadcast themselves and it is one of the best apps for gamers.

This is because gamers can watch one another play, or fans of gamers can get involved. Much like Bigo, users can decide to tip the broadcaster, allowing for in-app earning potentials.

Discord users can speak with one another video to video, send one another voice messages or simply type their messages to each other.

3. Omegle

Omegle is a video-specific app that allows users to set up an account and connect with other people all over the world using a randomly generated “roulette” system.

Users of Omegle can speak face to face with each other and type messages into the chat function if they wish to.

The main problem that Omegle suffered was from negative users on the app and the fact that Omegle had so much competition from similar apps of its kind.

Despite this though, it holds a lot of great features similar to Bigo Live - but it’s more luck than judgment with your user experience these days.

4. TikTok

tiktok

TikTok has exploded in popularity over the past few years. What was once an app that had limited functionality, it now allows for so many new features.

Not only can you still lip sync to movies, songs and other things as you could before, but TikTok now allows users to use their Live function. This means content creators can broadcast themselves on a live stream.

In real time, much like on YouTube or Facebook Live, content creators can chat with their fans through the use of comments.

5. Live.Me

Live.Me is currently only available on iOS, so only Apple users can download it at the moment (sorry Android users!). Google Play did have it, but there was trouble with Cheetah Mobile who created the app.

Live.Me is extremely similar to Bigo Live. In fact, almost every function is the same as you’ll find on the competitor app - but there is one major difference.

The major difference between the two is the demographic popularity. Cheetah Mobile is a Beijing based mobile company which partly contributes to the fact that Bigo Live is most popular with Asian users.

Live.Me however, rose to popularity with its American market - so you can expect the peak user times to be different and the general demographic of its users to be different if you are searching for live broadcasters.

6. Kik

Kik is an app that has seen some major changes to its habits, user behaviors and functionality over the years. However, the biggest change to the platform happened upon its relaunch.

When Kik relaunched, it was given a bit of a facelift and new features were added. One such feature was the Kik Live function.

This is essentially where any user can choose to go live and broadcast themselves to anybody who finds their stream.

The top of Kik homepages will show users the most popular streams (most users within the stream), and much like Bigo Live - users may decide to tip the broadcaster with virtual gifts which have monetary value.

These are purchased using in-app purchases through Kik itself. Indeed, like Bigo, the broadcasters can show off their skills and earn while they make new friends. Win win, right?

7. Yubo

Yubo is a fantastic app that has seen a significant rise in popularity over the last few years. It has many different features which its users will love.

If you’re looking to make new friends, Yubo is ideal. You can connect with people using a swiping system (similar to that of Tinder), or join in with live broadcasts and party rooms - which are essentially large chat rooms.

If you want to, you can have a one-to-one video conversation with your new connections, or broadcast yourself to a much larger audience. The choice really is yours.

8. UpLive

This app is quite unique in its own way. Much like Bigo Live, users can broadcast themselves to others and have video chats - but UpLive has one amazing feature.

Due to the fact that UpLive was designed with the help of Google, Uplive has a real time translation feature.

So, if you’re an English speaker and you’re broadcasting to a French speaking audience, it will translate what you’re saying to the users.

Global users benefit from these multilingual features and it means the platform itself has huge potential for earnings.

However, if you want to simplify it and only broadcast or watch users that are using your native language, that’s not a problem either - you can simply select your language using the flag system at the top.

9. Twitch

twitch

Twitch has many similarities to Discord, in that it is one of the best types of apps for gamers. However, other users can benefit from the features of the app.

You can live stream, get involved in chats, debates and create your own entertainment for either just yourself or for a larger audience.

Similar to Bigo Live, you have some earning potential if you decide to use Twitch. However, you can do this either through partnering with an agency, or via in-app purchases.

The app saw its biggest successes during 2020 and 2021, but it continues to grow and offers a lot for its users, content creators or audience members.

10. MeetMe

MeetMe is a very unique style app. It’s a hybrid between a dating app and something like Bigo Live.

Users can swipe other users and if they like each other, they can continue the conversation through video chats. With the combination of dating apps and live streaming, you have huge potential.

SImilar to Bigo, MeetMe offers a way for broadcasters to earn from their videos, but you would need to receive a virtual gift from another user, which itself has monetary value.

In essence, MeetMe is the perfect central ground between a popular dating app and a popular live streaming app - so if this is something you’d be interested in combining, you’ve got the perfect choice here.

Are These Apps Safe?

Much like any other app, there’s always going to be an element of worry and danger due to some users with ill intentions.

However, if you follow privacy advice and guidelines, you should be able to protect yourself from negative user behaviors.

The Bottom Line

There are many apps like Bigo out there on the market - and some have some great and unique features which you will probably love!

We hope this list has been helpful. Good luck!
