After the success of the two seasons of The Walking Dead video game, it was almost inevitable that Telltale decided to turn Game of Thrones into an interactive novel. Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series (or Game of Thrones in English) started at the end of last year and so far we are already three episodes in (Episode 1: From Iron to Ice, Episode 2: The Lost Lords and Episode 3: The Sword in the Darkness).
Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series is an interactive novel divided into six “episodes” that will be released on a regular basis. Each episode lasts between two and four hours of gameplay. What does the term “interactive novel” mean? The game practically “goes by itself” and you only have to focus on making decisions (in the form of dialogues or actions). Be careful how you choose to act. Remember that in Westeros losing in Game of Thrones means dying. The main plot will not change radically with every decision you make but Telltale knows how to let you be bewitched by the illusion that everything you do will have serious consequences for the course of events. Game of Thrones- A Telltale Games Series takes place between Seasons 3 and 4 of the television series (about halfway through the book Storm of Swords) and puts us in the shoes of five characters linked to House Forrester, a House created especially for the game. In this way we will live the events of Game of Thrones from a new point of view.
From what we’ve played so far (there’s still a lot of “series” to go), Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series is practically Season 3.5. Episode 2 without going any further doesn’t leave you a minute of respite. You can almost feel George R.R. Martin, author of the novels, pulling the strings of events to give you a hard time in the most unexpected and painful way possible. Although you don’t control Jon Snow, Tyrion, Daenerys and company, each episode has its own special guests dubbed by the original actors of the series. In addition, you will not only visit new locations but you will also be able to explore mythical places such as the Wall. Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series is not yet finished but we can already confirm that this is a must-have “episodic” video game for fans of the series or interactive adventures. Everyone else beware: we recommend having seen at least Season 3 of the series or having read Storm of Swords or you won’t know much of what’s going on.
