The official Twitter application for Windows allows you to manage your Twitter account natively from your Windows computer. All this with a very elegant design.
From the main screen of Twitter for Windows you can see a central column with your timeline. If you want to zoom in on a tweet, click on it and it will expand slightly, allowing you to reply, retweet and favorite it. In the left column you have access to the main functions shown in the web version: Home, Connect, Discover and Account. From @Conecta you have access to all the interactions of other users with you: mentions, RTs and favorites. From #Discover you have access to the Trending Topics of the moment and featured tweets. From Account you can see all your tweets, the accounts you follow, your followers and all the photos you have posted. At all times Twitter for Windows displays the New Tweet and Search buttons. Very handy. Twitter for Windows integrates seamlessly with the system, so it displays notifications (which you can configure from the options menu), includes an interactive tile that displays information on the Start screen and, being native, integrates with the Share function of the Charms Bar.
The handling of the Twitter for Windows application is excellent: it is fluid and facilitates interaction with all content. The option to use Twitter in split screen mode deserves a special mention. It is a real joy, for example, to be able to watch a YouTube video or a live TV channel while reading tweets.
The design of the official application is modern and elegant, in line with the design of the rest of the applications in the Windows Store. What does not convince us is the absence of columns in the Home and @Connect tabs, which gives a somewhat “empty” aspect to the application. However, both in #Discover and in your Account the elements are displayed as a carousel, with an excellent result. Finally, it should be noted that the performance and stability of the application are excellent and we did not notice any delay in notifications.
Twitter has created a very complete application for Windows devices. It is a beautiful application, which is easy to use and integrates seamlessly with the system. Really, it is a different application, in which you can see that it is made specifically for Windows. The only thing we miss is being able to choose the URL shortener.
