Talking Ginger for Windows 8 is the version for the little ones of the famous Talking Tom app. Both the kitten and the child will have fun while they learn to brush their teeth before going to sleep.
Ginger the cat has a problem. He has to go to bed but first he has to go to the bathroom. And we all know that the moments before going to bed are very boring. Talking Ginger invites the young user to accompany Ginger, so that he will learn hygiene almost without realizing it. There are four main activities that can be done with Ginger: toileting, showering, drying her hair and brushing her teeth. Each time the child has completed one of these activities he will get a puzzle piece. Once you have obtained all of them, you can complete a new puzzle that will reveal one of Ginger the cat’s many dreams. Night after night, the child will accompany Ginger before going to bed to solve more puzzles. And so, with fun and entertainment, he will learn how important it is to brush his teeth or go to the toilet before bedtime. Talking Ginger even includes a timer for the child to spend at least two minutes brushing his teeth. Of course, Talking Ginger also contains the star function of every app in the Talking Tom series: the cat will repeat everything the user says in a funny way. In this sense, the app allows you to share videos with friends.
Talking Ginger includes a Kids Mode to help them master its interface, which is already very simple and easy to use. It also allows you to restrict access in case you don’t want your child to access the app on their own. The app encourages exploration; “what if I want to pet Ginger a bit?”, “what happens if I hit this button?”. The controls work great and won’t give much trouble. As for the graphics, Talking Ginger is the same as the rest of Talking Tom’s apps: they are very outdated. An app of this type, i.e. aimed at children, needs more animations to make the virtual pet as expressive as possible.
Talking Ginger has a laudable mission (to teach a little hygiene to its very young user) and it accomplishes it with flying colors. You can leave your offspring and the app alone or accompany them on their adventures in the bathroom. Just don’t expect an app to take care of virtual pets. For that we already have My Talking Tom.
