Microsoft PowerPoint is a software developed by Microsoft for making presentations. It is part of the Office suite and the most widely used in both the education and business sectors, with Prezi Desktop and Google Slides currently being its main competitors. However, PowerPoint provides a more intuitive working environment, better quality graphics and a wider and more versatile set of tools.
It is probably the most popular slideshow creation program in history. In any case, contrary to what happens with most of those that make up the Office package, it was not created by Microsoft. The company acquired it in 1987 from Forethrought Inc. Its original name was Presenter.
Mainly slideshows. For this purpose, it integrates a wide library of predefined templates that, later, can be customized by the user. The user can create his own if he wants to. In them it is possible to insert images, text, graphics and documents from other Office files. In addition, Microsoft PowerPoint allows you to create transition effects, insert hyperlinks and add video and audio files.
Microsoft PowerPoint generates files in PPTX format by default. However, it is capable of opening other popular formats such as PPT and PPS. In fact, it is the software of this type with the least compatibility problems in this regard.
This Microsoft program offers exactly the same compatibility as the other tools that make up the Office suite. Specifically, there are specific versions for MacOS, Android and iOS, as well as for Microsoft Windows, obviously. On the other hand, it cannot be run on any GNU/Linux configuration.
In this edition we will be able to enjoy improvements in the “Transition Transformation” system, which allows us to create much more attractive animations within the slides. The user interface has also been improved to make it more accessible and intuitive. The program will be available offline on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Without a doubt, Microsoft PowerPoint is the most used presentation creation program in history. It has also been able to renew itself thoroughly since its birth more than 30 years ago to meet the needs of all types of users. Even the most professional and demanding ones.
