Line is an instant messaging application that, in addition to chat conversations, allows video calls, IP voice calls and sending audio, image and video messages. It is similar to WhatsApp, but has a sticker system that is much more original than its classic emoticons.
It is an instant messaging application for mobile and desktop devices. It was born in 2011 with the purpose of solving the problems caused in telecommunications by the last great earthquake in Japan. It is owned by NHN (Naver) and has more than 400 million users worldwide. Like Telegram and other similar apps, Line not only incorporates a chat platform, but also the possibility of making video calls and VoIP calls. In fact, it was one of the first to offer both. It also supports sending large image, video and audio files quickly and conveniently.
Line ensures excellent compatibility. In particular, you can download and install it on cell phones equipped with iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry OS, as well as on desktops or laptops equipped with Microsoft Windows, macOS or Firefox OS operating systems.
Line stickers replace emoticons within the app. That is, they are the elements that allow you to communicate an emotion to your contacts through an illustration. This instant messaging platform includes its own characters and sticker packs of movies and famous events. The closest thing to Line stickers are Facebook Messenger stickers. In fact, both use the same system. They allow users to download thematic packs with hundreds of such images from which they can select and keep their favorites.
Up to 200. That is the maximum number of people who can also participate in a video call made through the mobile or PC version of the application. However, on the device screen you will only see the image of four of them simultaneously.
Once you download Line and install it on your computer, tablet or cell phone, it will ask you to associate your phone number to your account. This will ensure that only you can use it. It will then ask for permission to access your contact information to see who has the app installed. Once this step is done, you will be able to start text, audio or video conversations with your friends. These people will also find you as available through the application and will be able to send you messages if they wish through their service. However, if you are not interested, you can always block them without letting them know.
Line lets you add friends through NFC and QR codes, as well as create backup copies of your conversations that you can later open automatically in Microsoft Word. It also confirms in real time the sending and delivery of messages and has a great location system between users.
Line was, back in 2011, the first instant messaging application to really stand up to WhatsApp. The possibility of making high quality calls and video calls and, above all, its original sticker system are its main strengths. In short, a safe and very versatile application with which to communicate with your friends.
