Rivals at Wares is a war card game where you will lead a platoon of soldiers in battles with real players around the world.
Unlike other popular Android combat games like Modern Combat or Brothers in Arms, in Rivals at War you don’t need to hold a gun and shoot at the enemy. You’ll just have to sit back and watch your squad fight in missions against other real players. The gameplay in Rivals at War is centered on cards, as in any other role-playing game. Using in-game coins, you will buy packs of cards. On the cards you will find various types of soldiers with different abilities, special attacks, customizations, etc. They will go into battle when you send them into battle, and as you win fights you will be able to recruit better and better armed men, using the cards. It may sound boring, but Rivals at War is compelling and makes the experience of watching the fights hypnotic. Of course, there are downtimes when you’re being eliminated by your opponent and it’s frustrating to not be able to do anything, but otherwise, the game is addictive. While in-app purchases of cards help you in the game, fortunately it is not essential to do so in order to continue playing, so the game can be played for free without any problem.
When you start in Rivals at War, you will review the dynamics of the game to learn how it is played. Basically, you get a pack of cards, choose which cards you want to play and wait for the combat to end. On the battlefield, you will have several ways to view the combat. In Rivals at War you can choose a particular soldier or use the satellite mode to see the entire combat from behind. In addition, it is possible to zoom in and out to analyze in detail what is happening on the battlefield.
Rivals at War has an impeccable look, both in the menu system and settings, as well as on the battlefield with action scenes. The combat may not look perfect, as in other games of this style for Android, but the animations are more than acceptable and the sound effects are realistic. Regarding the matching of rivals through the Internet, Rivals at War does a great job, finding battles according to our level and availability of soldiers.
If you are a fan of card combat games, you will love Rivals at War, although for the uninitiated there may be some frustration in the sense of not being able to act in real time when you see that something is not going well. In this sense, your role is more of a general or leader than a soldier, so you will have to think very well which soldiers to send to the battlefield and with what equipment instead of improvising during combat.
