Jetpack Joyride is the new adventure of Barry Steakfries, a full-fledged hero who will fight against evil scientists flying with his machine gun propellant, with the goal of traveling the greatest possible distance.
Good old Steakfries’ machine gun propellant will help you fly, avoiding enemy weapons -such as electric fields, laser beams or guided missiles-, while you shoot at the bad guys. In Jetpack Joyride the scenery moves without stopping and you will only have to go up or down the screen. Jetpack Joyride doesn’t end here. You’ll have to complete missions, such as reaching a certain level or performing certain pirouettes. Besides, you’ll collect coins that will let you get upgrades for your weapon. And in the scenery you’ll find new vehicles, such as motorcycles or robots. Jetpack Joyride offers an in-app purchase system. You can buy coins to exchange for items and even buy entire missions.
Jetpack Joyride’s gameplay is excellent and guarantees a very high level of addiction. Controlling your character is as easy as pressing and holding your finger on the screen to control Barry’s flight. In addition, the appearance of new powers and types of thrusters ensure that you will always want to keep playing “a little more”. Jetpack Joyride introduces enough incentives to avoid the boredom that this kind of games usually produce after a few games. This makes Jetpack Joyride one of the most addictive games we have tried. This version for Windows 8 is also integrated with Xbox Live, so all the achievements you get will be added to your personal scoreboard.
Jetpack Joyride uses the same style as Barry Steakfries’ previous games, with an 8 bit style design. You can notice the hand of Halfbrick Studios in the graphical aspect of the game. The soundtrack, in turn, is very successful and perfectly accompanies the high pace of the game.
Jetpack Joyride is one of those must-play games. The game goes far beyond being a “get as far as possible” game and introduces very fun and challenging challenges. A great game.
