If you dream of being Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones and having your own dragons, Dragon Mania Legends is your game. Become a master of breeding these creatures and train them to become powerful warriors.
Dragon Mania Legends makes you the lord and master of a beautiful natural paradise. In it, you will start your colony of dragons that you will raise and train to turn them into battle machines. To breed dragons you must build habitats. Each habitat is used to have a type of dragon living there (fire, earth, water…) as well as to make them mate and have offspring. By matching dragons you will get hybrid types and unlock new breeds to increase your collection. Dragons are born small and powerless, but thanks to training and, above all, a good diet, you will soon have strong adult creatures. Besides the habitats, the other key aspect of construction in Dragon Legends Mania is the farms. Like the resource centers of games like Clash of Clans, Dragon Mania Legends farms are buildings that generate food, the “fuel” for your dragons. So, with fed dragons you can aim for the next best thing, taking them to the battlefield.
Battles in Dragon Mania Legends are very similar to other turn-based combat games: you select a type of attack or power, choose the target and release the action hoping to do as much damage as possible to the enemy. This passive system makes the difficulty of these battles is not in the fight itself, but in the previous planning: study which dragons are best suited to fight the enemy on duty and enhance their skills by managing the coins and points you earn. As in other similar games, in Dragon Mania Legends you have the option to fight against the machine by completing a series of missions or fight against other users. In both cases you will get coins and other resources to improve your dragons. It is appreciated that in Dragon Mania Legends, despite having quite a lot of options -breeding, online combat and against the machine, missions…- everything is quite simplified and it is easy to learn to play.
You can tell that behind Dragon Mania Legends there is a renowned studio like Gameloft. The graphics and sound of the game are of quality and have good finishes. However, there is nothing that stands out especially in its design. Perhaps the problem is that there is already so much saturation of strategy and resource management games that a design has to be very innovative to catch our attention, which is not the case with DragonMania Legends. In fact, when you play it you will be constantly thinking about Dragon City, a very similar game whose dragons have more charisma than those in Gameloft’s game.
Dragon Legends Mania is an entertaining game thanks to its variety of options and a game mechanic that hooks you - who doesn’t like to win fights? The problem is that when you play it, everything will sound like you’ve seen it before: as a resource management game there are much more complete titles and as a game of battles between dragons we already have others that are well known, such as Dragon City by Social Point, which can also be played on Facebook. Dragon Legends Mania will succeed if it stands out a bit from the competition by offering unique features and if it improves its design, which for now is pretty but not very original.
