In order to understand what the Facebook app is, you need to understand what Facebook is first. Facebook is a social media website that is designed to connect friends, family, and others together on one platform.
Facebook allows you to share your thoughts in the form of statuses, as well as pictures, or you can share everything publicly so everyone can see it.
People can react to all your posts and vice versa by liking the post or choosing from some of the other reactions available.
When you add someone as a friend and they accept, you are both able to see each other’s profiles and everything either person shares.
There are also Facebook groups and “like” pages in which people with the same interests can join and discuss the group/page topics.
There are lots you can do on Facebook and the app is pretty much the same thing, just for mobile devices instead.
It has a sleek interface and has evolved a lot over the years, and now more people use the app than the actual website.
Originally, Facebook was only available on mobile devices that supported iOS or Android, but in this day and age, it is also available as an app on Windows devices.
If you have an iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Google Pixel, or any other phone that supports iOS or Android and supports apps, you will be able to use the Facebook app.
There are so many different features on the Facebook App that are available for you to use.
While there are far too many features for us to list every single one, we’ll go over some of the key features that make the Facebook App so inviting.
Messenger - probably the most popular feature on the app, Facebook Messenger actually comes as its own app that links to the original app. It is an instant message service that lets you message and stay connected with people in real-time. It’s so much real-time that you can even see when people have read your messages and when they are typing to reply. The messenger app overlays onto the rest of your device, so you will get a chat bubble pop-up whenever you have a new message.
News Feed - the news feed is the main page for Facebook which shows you all the latest news, posts, statuses, and other things shared by your mutual friends. The News Feed is aptly named because its name is exactly what it is.
Videos & Live Stream - the Facebook app allows you to upload and watch videos from a separate tab in the app, but it also lets you Livestream straight to your news feed in less than 3 clicks.
Reactions - Originally, Facebook only had the “Like Button”, but over time, that has evolved and you can now react in a lot of different ways. The other react buttons include Love, Care, Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry.
Groups - The Facebook app also allows you to access all your group pages and it even lets you create groups straight from the app.
Gaming - The Facebook app also includes a feature that allows you to play Facebook games on the app. While the browser-based version has more games, the app version still has plenty for you to choose from.
Friends - The Facebook app allows you to add, delete, block, and search for friends who you are already connected with or who you want to connect with.
Search - The app also allows you to access the search feature, where you can search for people, tags, videos, posts, groups, and more.
Reels - Reels are short videos that are similar to TikTok videos and this is a newer feature that has been added to the Facebook App.
Memories - The Facebook App also allows you to see your memories. There is a tab that shows you everything you posted on that day as far back as your Facebook account was created.
Marketplace - The Facebook App allows you access to the Facebook Marketplace which allows users to sell their things second-hand to other Facebook users. You can toggle the area, distance, and more in the filters section.
Dating - Another new-ish feature, the Facebook App allows you access to the Facebook Dating feature in which you can find people to date.
Events - The app also allows you access to the events page, where you can see and search for upcoming events. You can also click “going” or “not interested” on any events that are coming up and if you have any mutual friends who have interacted with it, you will see them on the event page too.
While Facebook and its app are accessible pretty much all over the world, there are some countries that have restricted access to it or none at all.
These countries are China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia. You cannot access Facebook or its app if you are living in any of these countries listed.
Facebook continues to be one of the most popular social networking sites on the planet, and this is largely due to the fact that it has no issues changing to keep up with popular demand.
If you haven’t used it yet, give Facebook a try today!
