Fallout Shelter is a great pastime while you wait for the arrival of the promising Fallout 4. You are faced with a management and adventure game in which you’ll have to supervise the life of one of the multiple Shelters scattered around the world of Fallout. This game is also available for Android and iOS. Fallout Shelter is free to download but includes optional micropayments.
In Fallout Shelter you are the Supervisor of your own Shelter. You start with a few inhabitants to whom you must assign tasks to get the necessary resources to maintain the stability of the place. Little by little you will be able to expand your Shelter and add more facilities that will attract survivors of the nuclear holocaust that has taken place. As you can see, the mechanics of Fallout Shelter are simple: maintain your resources, expand the Shelter, manage the new inhabitants to ensure the maintenance of resources… Tension and risk are the two elements that differentiate Fallout Shelter from the competition. Your resources are constantly dwindling, so you must correctly manage your inhabitants’ abilities. There is also the option of asking your refugees to work quickly in a short period of time. If they don’t make mistakes you will get a lot of resources. But if they fail, your area may catch fire, there may be an invasion of cockroaches… Beyond these two elements, don’t expect anything revolutionary in Fallout Shelter. In this sense, more elements of the series could have been used. Fallout Shelter is a short game as there are many time-consuming processes. Do not expect to spend hours and hours playing. On the other hand, micropayments are 100% optional. Basically you can pay to get random packs of useful items that you can get without spending anything.
Fallout Shelter’s graphics are more impressive than what we are used to in management games. If you double tap an area of the screen, it will enlarge and you will be able to see your Shelter with more details and with a great 3D visual finish. The controls are intuitive, but as far as its interface is concerned, you can tell that the game has been designed to be played on a big screen. You will find it difficult to perform some actions if you play it from a smartphone. Fallout Shelter is an entertaining and beautiful game to look at. It was released as a way to help you pass the time while you wait for Fallout 4, the real highlight. And in this sense, Shelter more than delivers. You can download it on Steam, and on the developers’ page you’ll find a multitude of guides and tricks to get the most out of it.
